The Shyamala Gopalan Educational Foundation (SGEF) has taken a bold step towards transforming rural education by adopting the Government Junior College in Basavatharakam Panchayati. At a programme organized by the college staff, DIEO H. Venkateswarlu and SGEF Founder & Chairman Suresh Reddy Nalla attended as chief guests and distributed new uniforms to all students.
In a surprise announcement, Suresh Reddy Nalla declared that the Foundation, in partnership with the Sonu Sood Charity Foundation, will develop the college into a model institution to rival private schools. He also promised to launch a Midday Meal Programme soon, responding to a request from the principal.
The Foundation has been engaged in several impactful initiatives including scholarships, health insurance for transport drivers, cultural heritage preservation, cataract surgeries, bicycle distribution, and nutrition programmes for malnourished children. Future plans include establishing an international school in honour of Dr. Shyamala Gopalan and expanding educational support across the region.
